Here's a good starting point to understand the 'about' [how & why] of Helvetica Freak.

I am Dash, and I love words. I majored in English at Ashoka University, and I am currently doing a PhD in English at Syracuse University where I hope to specialize in something to do with video games. Or interactive/ergodic literature. My research interests include psychoanalysis, marxism, media studies, South Asian literature, and speculative fiction.

Everything costs money – including PhD applications, visa applications, moving across continents [and more]. So between my undergraduate and PhD, I also worked at a corporate for two years. My hate for it will be embedded in my works.

Some of my hot takes include: I don't think endings of a story matter as much as the experience of it; Margaritas suck; hopelessness is the privileged's speak; Ocean Vuong is overrated; one can, in fact, pursue English as an academic without being acquainted with Shakespeare; other hot takes will most likely be found in my works here and beyond.

Some of my favorite writers and theorists include Mark Fisher, Adam Phillips, Arundhati Roy and Barthes. I love LeftWord Books. My favorite games are Disco Elysium, Balatro, CoffeeTalk, Dredge, Dave The Diver, among many others. Some books I would recommend to people are Capitalist Realism by Mark Fisher, Missing Out by Adam Phillips, Em and the Big Hoom by Jerry Pinto, When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Strangers to Ourselves by Rachel Aviv, Butter by Asako Yuzuki, and so so many more. I also love Sudoku, warm temperatures, chole bhature and pizza.

My full name is Sadhvi Dash, and I have chosen to call Delhi my home. Reach me here: sadhvidash@proton.me; and here for more formal things: sadash@syr.edu.
